Switch location. Work at different places within your office, or outside of it. Exchange desks with a co-worker, use the conference room, sit on the couch, etc. Switching location once in awhile helps refresh the brain and adds to creativity and energy level.
Reduce your multi-tasking. Although you might feel multitasking helps get more done, research shows it reduces efficiency and performance because the brain can only focus on one thing at a time.
Pick and chose meetings if possible. Unless its a mandatory meeting, try to stay away from meetings. Many meetings do not add to your knowledge and just consume your time.
Write down daily goals. Writing your goals at the beginning of your day should become a habit. It tells your brain where to focus and helps you stay on task.
Reward yourself. It is ok to celebrate or reward yourself for finishing a big task. Make sure you enjoy your accomplishment by rewarding yourself. It helps the brain look for more rewards and motivates you to work harder when you need to overuse it.
Don’t be afraid to go bold with colors. Use a pop of color. Psychology of Color suggests visual elements, including colors, can have an influence on employee behaviors, productivity levels, moods and attitudes.
Streamline your workspace- keep it clutter free. It helps your professional image, helps you focus more as clutter can make it more difficult to focus on a particular task. An organized desk and office makes us feel good about ourselves.
Plan for tomorrow. Set your schedule for the next day the night before. It prevents you from forgetting unfinished tasks, gets your brain to unconsciously started on tomorrow’s task and saves you time the next day you go to work.
